Method
Where every number comes from, how launches and satellites are classified, and how fresh the data is right now.
Sources
Launches
Launch Library 2 (The Space Devs), every launch with SpaceX as provider. Full rebuild daily, latest past and upcoming hourly. A launch counts once it has a result: Success, Failure or Partial Failure. Customers are classified from the mission’s agencies: a Starlink batch is Starlink; Transporter and Bandwagon are rideshare; any government or multinational agency makes it government (NASA crew and cargo included); Starship and Falcon 1 flights with no external customer are test; anything else is commercial.
Satellites
CelesTrak SATCAT, the public satellite catalogue, payloads only. A Starlink satellite is any payload named STARLINK-*. Working means status +, P, B, S or X. The in-orbit history is reconstructed from launch and decay dates.
Revenue
SpaceX is reported only where it has said so — filings, executive statements. Everything else is an estimate from press reporting and analysts, kept as low / mid / high, with the source beside each figure on the business pages. Reference data lives in data/seed.json in the repository and is reloaded on every start.
Data freshness
The last run of each ingest.
…
What needs updating
Researched inputs checked against the live data: a new filing not yet entered, a promise past its date, a model base that has drifted. Each with its fix; the runbook is docs/UPDATING.md in the repository.
